Al Ahly on the brink of league exit amid refereeing dispute

Al Ahly are considering withdrawing from the Egyptian League after refusing to play their highly anticipated championship-stage match against Zamalek.

The club had demanded foreign referees for the game and a postponement, stating they would not participate under the current officiating conditions.

Their absence from the fixture has intensified speculation about their future in the competition.

A source told Kooora, “Al Ahly will not continue in the league unless the Zamalek match is rescheduled with foreign referees.”

The club is now waiting for the Egyptian Clubs Association’s final decision.

The association had previously assured Al Ahly that foreign officials would be appointed. If the club is officially deemed to have forfeited the match, it could take further steps, including escalating the issue to international football authorities.
