Nsoatreman FC withdraw from 2024/25 GPL over security concerns

Nsoatreman FC has officially withdrawn from the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL), citing grave concerns over the safety and security of their players and fans.

This decision follows a tragic incident during their Matchday 19 fixture against Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronmansah Park, where violent clashes led to the fatal stabbing of a Kotoko supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, known as “Nana Pooley.”

Supporters are believed to be planning retaliation after Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong Pooley was fatally stabbed during the Porcupines’ match against Nsoatreman on February 2.

They fear that remaining in the league could unintentionally deepen the grief of the bereaved family and the wider football community.

Nsoatreman, currently 14th in the league with 21 points, were scheduled to play Basake Holy Stars in their next fixture.
